Santorini is famous not only for its stunning landscapes and picturesque villages but also due to its amazing wine and food.

The wine has been produced on the island since ancient times as far as the Bronze Age. Nowadays its vineyards are among the oldest in Europe and their quality is due to the unique combination of soil elements such as volcanic ash, lava and pumice stone. Additionally, the weather plays an important role. The island climate is characterized mostly by its sunny days throughout the year and the high humidity during the nights.

These conditions create a perfect environment to cultivate more than 35 varieties of grapes and to provide the perfect conditions to grow the exquisite traditional products that represent the island gastronomy. From fava spit peas, green capers, cherry tomatoes, eggplants, divine pastries, and desserts, there are enough flavours for those looking for the real taste of Santorini.

The experience will start at your hotel, where a private chauffeur will pick you up and take you to Pyrgos Village. Pyrgos is the highest traditional settlement on the island where you will be delightful with the impressive panoramic views in almost every direction.

Our first stop will be in the castle of Pyrgos, one of the five castles built during the Venetian period on the island and famous for its wonderful panoramic views of the Aegean Sea. During our visit to this village, we will wander around the alleys and paths, still used nowadays by locals to transport themselves by donkey. After visiting the castle, we will find our first winery to start the wine tasting experience and get familiar with the winemaking process in Santorini.

Once we have tried all the best varieties in our first winery stop, we continue to Megalohori, another traditional village where we will try new flavours according to their own way of grape processing. Afterwards, we will walk to the caldera side of the island in search of our last winery. There we will enjoy together the last wine tasting of the day while the sun sets magically.

After the sun has set and you have enjoyed the last sip of wine (at least with us), our private transportation will make sure you arrive safely back to the hotel to enjoy the rest of the evening.
